The Power Of GIS - GTI's Airphoto Coverage in GIS Mapinfo Format

GTI is involved in a multi-year, multi-level GIS project to catalog 300,000 frames of aerial, ground and underwater photography ranging from 1929 to the present.  See photo library for specifics on images.

Level 1 - Build a GIS database of our photo library to provide a high speed accurate search capability for all in-house photography.

Phase 1 - Associate individual images or groups of images with color coded map objects to quickly provide short term high speed searches based on map interfaces and standard data base search criteria.

Phase 2 - Detail catalog individual images to individual map objects to allow linking photo copies to map objects.

Level 2 - Digitally scan image library for linking to map objects and output to high resolution digital printers.

Level 3 - Set up an internet base image review and supply service.

Level 4 - Rectify and geocode vertical image library for use in GIS systems.

The below GIS Mapinfo files are the current post of our Level 1, Phase 1 files.  They include location and image type information on approximately 120,000 frames.

Associated browser data base will cover Frame#, Date, Scale - where appropriate, Film Type, Etc.  All scales are approximate and apply only to vertical images as print size ultimately determines scale.

Airphoto files as of 11-21-05 DOWNLOAD Unzip to a folder for use in Mapinfo or free Mapinfo Pro Viewer available from Mapinfo.  Files can also be imported into any GIS system.
